What does the free food diary do?
You log what you eat by choosing foods from the app's catalogue, and the diary adds up the calories of each meal and of the whole day. It is free for everyone, with no trial that runs out and no week of features before a paywall.
Your meals sit in the timeline on your Home screen, next to your next class and your workout. Food and training stop living in two different apps, and you see your day in one place.
What changes when a nutritionist follows you?
Their meal plan arrives in the app, complete and free, with macros and the barcode scanner included. The nutritionist can be the one at your gym or one you choose in the app, and the plan carries their name.
Your diary then shows what was planned and what you ate, side by side. You don't need to remember the plan or copy it from a PDF: you log, and the difference is there for both of you to read at the next check-up.
On Yeki a meal plan always comes from a nutritionist, never from a trainer and never from the app. If you would like a coach and a nutritionist together, that is what online coaching with a nutritionist is for: it is coming soon, at €109.00 a month.
What does Plus add to the food diary?
Plus unlocks the detailed side of food tracking for people who want it. It also comes with Yeki Pass, and with the app your gym publishes under its own name.
- Macros: protein, carbohydrate and fat for every meal and every day
- A barcode scanner for anything with a packet
- Your own plan, if you track without a nutritionist
- Meal templates for the breakfasts and lunches you eat again and again
- Meal photos: you take a picture and confirm what the app suggests
How do meal photos work?
You photograph your plate. The photo recognises the foods: the app suggests them from its catalogue, each with an estimate of the grams. You correct or confirm in two taps, and only then does the meal go into your diary.
The grams are an estimate, and the app shows them as one. You can take up to 10 meal photos a day, which is enough for every meal and snack without turning lunch into a photo shoot. If you want to know what the numbers mean, our guide on what macros are and how to track them explains it in plain words.
What happens to my photos and my data?
Before your first meal photo, the app asks for your consent. Location and the other details hidden in a photo are removed, and photos are deleted after 90 days, while the diary entry stays.
Your nutritionist sees your photos only if you choose to share them. Photos are never used for ads. Your data belongs to you: you can ask for a copy at any time, and your history is never deleted.
Will the app tell me what to eat?
No. Yeki never judges a meal and never writes a diet for you. A pizza with friends is a meal in your diary, not a red mark. Whoever advises you on food is a nutritionist, a person with a name, not the app.
A diary is useful when it helps you notice things, and less useful when it makes you anxious. Our guide on how to count calories without obsessing has the habits that keep it light, and the moments to talk to a professional instead.
